Portsmouth Animal Liberation has the following aims:

  1. To contest the norm of animal abuse and cultivate understanding of the intrinsic worth of animals; that they are sentient, innocent and no different from us in the ways that matter
  2. To raise awareness of the consumer's role in the suffering and exploitation of animals
  3. To encourage a vegan diet and lifestyle founded on compassion, freedom and respect for all beings

Types Of Events

PAL hold many types of event and frequently discuss new ways of approaching our activism. Some typical examples of events we regularly hold are:

      - National Animal Rights Day (NARD) 'Memorial Ceremony'
      - Ban horse racing protests, both locally and at racetracks
      - Dairy awareness events including street outreach
      - Anti Fishing Protests targeting Angling competitions
      - Turkey outreach
      - Chalking and Stickering events
      - Anti-fur outreach
      - Aquarium outreach
      - Anti vivisection events
      - General street outreach
      - Periodic social events to unwind

PAL Beagle event

All volunteer are asked to act in accordance with the following Values and Code of Conduct

Values

  1. Non-violence: violence should not be used to achieve our aims
  2. Anti-speciesist: we believe in a just society in which all individuals, not just human, have a right to life and are free from oppression and exploitation
  3. We value reflecting on our actions and being willing to grow and learn through self-development and communication
  4. We support inclusion, diversity and respect the views of others within the group
  5. We appreciate the need for self-care and value a culture that avoids criticism and shaming
  6. Always assume good faith in the first instance (particularly important in social media communication where misinterpretation is commonplace)

Code of Conduct

  1. Non-violence and non-aggression even in the face of adversity
  2. No personal agendas during outreach
  3. Participants respect the requirements of specific events; e.g., dark or black clothing may be required, or chalking events should not contain profanities
  4. The organiser or organisers make any final decisions during events
  5. Make every effort to support each other and avoid actions or behaviours that may discredit the group
